Angola – War Torn But Beautiful!
Angola, or the Republic of Angola as it is more correctly known, is a country that is making its way back to life after 27 long years of war and trouble. The pictures of Angola with its rolling landscapes are no longer scattered with landmines and rubble buildings – destroyed by conflict and hatred but despite this, it is still known as one of the most beautiful countries in the world and for those searching for history within their vacation hot spots, this could be the perfect place to go.
Set in South-Central Africa, Angola is bordered by the Congo on one side, Namibia on the other with still room for a border with Zambia to make its way in there. Once a Portuguese country now is now independent following the long and troublesome war and with this independence comes both freedom and more pain especially in economic terms.
For a country that is pulling itself out of the depths of despair, Angola has one of the worst reported numbers of infant deaths. Not only that but Angola also has a very low life expectancy – something that is getting better but cannot be helped by the fact that although economy and industry is fast growing, they are still in a lot of debt especially with many other countries that they exhausted the lines of credit with. Oil and mineral reserves and exporting them obviously helps with this as does the increasing tourism industry which is a must have for any booming country!
The makeup and richness of Angola makes it easy to see why people are choosing now as the perfect time for investment and business Angola. Eight sea ports means that oil exporting as well as the export of cotton, bananas, minerals and plenty of other things is fairly easy. 243 airports also helps with this as does three railway systems to make transporting both imports and exports a much easier process. Not bad for a country of just over 480,000 square miles!
It would be impossible to mention the richness of Angola without having to mention diamonds. In one year alone it was reported that this gemstone made almost sixty percent of the country’s economy – perhaps diamonds are not just a girl’s best friend?
It is of course the oil production that Angola makes that has well and truly put it on the map following the peace signing of 2002 and temporary blip of further fighting slightly later on. However, peace seems to have been regained since this point which has lead to the many industries of this historical country growing at an unprecedented rate – making it the perfect place to be investing any cash in at this point especially after the recession that the rest of the world seems to have been covered with.
