Bali Weather – Timing Your Bali Vacation Is Crucial
Timing is always important when booking a vacation and your Bali vacation is no different. With a bit of knowledge about the weather in Bali you can consider the needs and desires of everyone going on your trip to time your visit for the optimal experience.
Weather Trends in Bali
One of the biggest allures of Bali is the weather. You can find sunshine and warm sand to sink your toes into virtually all year round and the days seem to stretch on forever. There aren’t many other places where you can step out onto the beach at 6:30 in the morning and feel sun on the back of your neck and look up to a bright and sunny sky.
This is the paradise that most people think of when they dream of vacationing in Bali, but there is another part of the Bali weather trend that some don’t think about: monsoons. Starting in May and ending October the dry monsoons hit, producing a lot of strong wind. From October through May there are wet monsoons that bring on torrents of rain.
What you probably notice here is that there can be monsoons at virtually any time of the year. The question is whether there will be torrents of rain or pounding winds when you book your Bali vacation.
This can sound scary, but you can still have a wonderful time in Bali even if you are caught in a monsoon or two. Even during the worst monsoons you will have at least a peak of sun to get out on the beach or visit a lighthouse and all the other tourist attractions.
It should also be noted that the temperatures are bit chillier when you venture into the mountains and cliffs of Bali, especially after 7PM when the sun goes down.
Surfing in Bali
Surfing is one of the most popular ways to pass time in Bali. Professional surfers visit between May and October to hit some of the most challenging waves found anywhere in the world. The dry monsoon winds create amazing waves that will challenge and possibly scare even experienced surfers.
Of course, there are calmer days during the dry monsoon months where beginners can still catch a reasonable wave that doesn’t put them in fear of their lives. There are some beaches that are known to have the killer waves and others where the waves are known to be tamer. You should do some research before booking your Bali vacation so you go to the best beaches for your skill level.
Of course, just sitting on the beach and watching local pros catch these amazing monsoon waves can be a thrill for non-surfers and surfers alike.
Relaxing in Bali
If your Bali vacation isn’t aimed at catching the most thrilling waves, you can join throngs of other travelers that visit from May through July every year. This is the hottest tourist season in Bali, so you will have to fight the crowds unless you go to a more remote or exclusive area that isn’t open to general tourists.
If you want to avoid the crowds, then venture to Bali throughout the rest of the year. It can be exciting even during the wet monsoon season as you will see a different side to the weather in Bali.
