Add A Little Snap To Your Social Life
It’s not like the camera Ansel used to photograph Yosemite and the West. It’s small, unobtrusive, and downright handy. In fact, that camera on your mobile electronic device is a blast, keeps getting better, and makes life a lot more fun. It can make your social life easier and better.
To be clear here, we’re not talking about those awkward sex-ting or Craigslist personals pics that some people make to jumpstart a social life. We’re interested in the ways the digital cameras, in particular the mobile cameras, can improve the quality of your communication and interaction with other people. Isn’t this what being social is really all about? Who you want to socialize with is up to you, but mobile cameras open up an easy channel for different ways to communicate.
Social media such as Twitter and Facebook are all about communication and socialization. And pics are definitely a big part of this. These sites, along with hundreds of others, allow the uploading of images for others to see and comment on: you get a response; they get to share an opinion. Your social life has already improved.
Consider inviting a friend to come join you at a great party. Tweet a pic that shows the people there and the atmosphere, or send it directly from your mobile device. Perhaps you’ve been tongue-tied around this person (it happens to the best of us). The picture might just be easier than words. Either way, the picture helps bring people together.
Perhaps you are having the best time snowboarding off-cornice in Bridger Bowl and want to let a laid-up friend know you are thinking of her. As you breathe in the cold fresh air and look out over the valley, snap a pic and send it along. This is an immediate moment of connection that conveys closeness despite distance. It lets someone know she is on your mind.
This also works great for those anniversaries and birthdays that almost slip your mind: snap a quick pic of yourself, edit to include a greeting, and send it along its way in time to keep you in good graces. Being in the doghouse does no one’s social life any good.
As for Grandma, well, take a nice snap of yourself somewhere, and she’ll know she is very much a part of your life when you send it along. No long letter, just a snap of you enjoying life and saying hi. Easy and fun.
Similarly, you can use mobile cameras to take pictures of new people you meet, new places you visit, or simply items you want to remember. Out on the town? Snap pictures of your favorite bars, restaurants, or wait people. Share these with others when they ask for a good place for chicken wings or white lager. Nothing brings people closer than sharing the things they like. And cameras have good memories when yours may be compromised or fading.
Add immediate snap to your social life with pictures from mobile cameras.
