iPad Bible Apps
The book, Bible has always been the best seller, but the popularity of such apps for iPad is growing. Unfortunately, there are a lot of apps at the AppStore that lack quality and have poor user interface. This article looks at the top three apps for the Christian Bible.
First is the BibleReader. This app costs 10 dollars (NIV version). Olive Tree, the company behind it has done an amazing job of developing an app that is not only accessible to the average user, but is flexible enough to grow with you into a very advanced research tool. The app looks very pleasing to the eyes and is the only app out there that allows you to view multiple books at the same time.
Bible Reader adds a lot of quality add-on content, but some of their add-ons are expensive. Keep in mind that you do not have to pay any penny to use the app, but you will get more out of it if you do buy some of the add-ons like “commentaries” and “Bible Dictionaries”. I simply just love the way the Bible reader shows the contents of the library.
Second is the Mantis Bible Study that offers a lot of add-on books, some of which are a bit more expensive than the add-ons offered by its competitors. The reason I have placed at number 2 is that it has some of the most unique features found on a Bible app. The most useful feature is the in-line study feature. When you tap on a Bible verse, the links before the verse take you to a different translations. Finally, you can purchase a voice-addon to give the app text-to-speed functionality. Voice add-on files cost 2 dollar each.
Third on my list is PocketBible by Laridian. This app is great for anyone who is interested in the Bible. It has a very clean and easy-to-use interface. The app works fine if all you want to do is read the Bible. However, as you delve deeper into the scripture, you will find that the app offers a comprehensive library of books that you can add to your collection at very competitive prices.
Its iPad version allows you to view up to 5 books simultaneously. It also lets you add bookmarks, notes and even highlights to the passages you are reading. It also offers some Greek and Hebrew tools but they are not as good as other apps for studying the Bible in original languages.
