6 Simple Steps in Car Painting
Some people get surprised when they learn that spray painting a car is not that difficult. But that does not imply that anybody can just get hold of paint and start spraying away. Car painting is just like any job – it needs proper preparation.
The following are the basic steps that you should follow when painting a car:
1. Prepare your car for painting by looking all over for any blemish and impurity. Stains, scratches, bumps, enamel coatings that have chipped off and other rough spots should be smoothed out to make painting easier. Use sand paper to get those out. Using a cloth, wipe the body, doors, hood, and windows to remove the dust and dirt.
2. Make a list of the things you need. Spray cans, paint brushes, primer, paint, etc. are among the necessary tools you need to be able to accomplish this job.
3. Find a well-ventilated area where you can work in. Some people prefer doing it in their garage, but it is much safer to do it in a wide, open space. There are paints that contain substances that give off strong odor that may cause dizziness and other complications.
4. Before applying enamel coatings, you will need to spray primer all over the car first. Primer acts like a bonding agent between the paint and the car’s surface. It makes sure that the paint sticks to the car as long as it can.
5. When you have decided what paint color to use, you can now fill your spray can with paint. Some use aerosol cans, while some prefer spray guns. Either way, it is advised that you do some practice strokes on a different material before you start working on your car. Do it carefully and in an even speed to avoid any rough spots and bumps.
6. After spraying the whole car, you can now leave it to dry for about 24 hours. The next day, it will look as good as new and you can now use it to drive to anywhere you want to go.
