Communicating By Reflecting Moon Light Rays Encoded With Data on the Light Beams Possible
Will humans use the moon to relay information in the future to faraway places? Will other species use our moon to reflect an encoded message using data in light? Should humans use the moon to reflect messages half way around the world using light by bouncing messages off the moon in the event that a massive solar flare takes out all of our satellites?
Well, if everyone was doing it, it probably wouldn’t work, but it is theoretically possible, and it might be a good way to use the reflectivity of Mars’ moon to stay in contact with a Mars colony when they are turned away from Earth, and we need to get a message to them. In fact, we wouldn’t need to have a working satellite to do this orbiting the planet, Mars’ moon is already there.
What about sending information from another solar system, and allowing our long-term space exploration space crews to contact us here when they are on the other side of a Sun. That is to say on the other side of a Sun in another far way solar system. It could work. Not long ago, I was reading a science fiction novel where an alien species had been trying to contact humans for 10’s of 1,000s of years and they knew of our existence.
Unfortunately, no one had figured out how to decode the light signals bouncing towards us. This gave rise to the concept of using the moon’s reflectivity and subtle changes in the frequency of light send messages across the Galaxy. Yes, there is a time delay, but the concept is still viable. Please consider all this.
