What to do

Kings Park – Right in the middle of the city, this is one of Perths biggest attractions, visited by over a million people a year, here you can find a lovely array of local flora, fountains monuments and rolling green ovals. This is also a great place to do your morning jog or workout.

Spend a day or three in neighbouring Fremantle. It has a style all of it’s own and is known as one of the most laid back places in Australia. I recommend heading over too the Little Creatures Brewery, WA’s best beer.

Rottnest Island is just a short ferry ride away from the Port of Perth and can be toured on mountain bike in a number of hours. This place really is special. It has some of the best beaches you will ever see and accommodation is also available.

Getting there

Cruise liners will often stop in Perth but almost all visitors arrive through a national or international flight. When travelling from elsewhere in Australia, train is also an option but it’s a little pricey for most budgets. Whereas bus rides can be long and uncomfortable. So neither are a recommended way to travel.. Many have described the 2100 km drive from Adelaide or 2700 km long haul from Darwin as being a “Once in a lifetime experience” Most foreigners find the idea a little daunting to say the least.

Climate

Summers are hot and long in Perth and temperatures may reach up to 100 F or 38 C between October and April. During these months, the also warmish nights are perfect to go beachside, catch up with friends and take in a sunset or a meal.

September to November or March to May is the ideal time to holiday in Perth. The beaches are still popular during these months and the increased rainfall produces brilliant wildflowers around Kings Park and the Avon Valley.
