The Peak Tram in Hong Kong
The Peak is one of Hong Kong’s must do tourist attractions. You should travel on the funicular tram to the Peak although you can take the bus, the tram is more fun. The tram rises 1300ft about sea level and seems to be going vertically straight up. The queues on the weekend are quite long it is really worth doing. The tram runs on its original railway track but the operating system and machinery have been upgraded. With technology the tram uses a microprocessor controlled motors that automatically manage the tramcars’ speed and braking at each of the stops along the way.
Once up on the Peak you will go into the Peak Tower which looks like a wok on top of the building then travel up the escalators to the Sky Terrace and look out over the stunning vista which is Hong Kong! Hopefully the smog wont be too bad and your view with be outstanding. There are photographers there how will take your photos with the vista as the backdrop for a small charge. With a 360 degree panoramic view across Hong Kong and the outlying islands it is wonderful, but to get the full advantage of the view you have to see it at night. Stunning is the only word for it, the night sky is filled with colour with the millions of neon lights shinning from below.
The Peak Tower is filled with shops and restaurants, booking a table at Bubba Gumps at night is a must but make sure you ask for a window seat! It costs approximately 56 HK to take the tram and entry into the Sky Terrace and is open around 10am in the morning to 11pm at night.
