LCDs For Your Computer – The Ultimate Guide
The first and foremost thing that must be decided when buying an LCD monitor for your computer is your budget. Generally the larger your budget, the bigger the LCD you can buy. Set a narrow budget that will allow you to decide on the quality of the LCD. For example, a $150 – $200 budget means the LCD you could be between the sizes of 19-25 inches.
The second aspect is your purpose. Generally, video editors, graphics designers or newspaper editors require bigger screens to fit the huge amount of data into one screen or may utilise the high resolutions bigger screens offer to show more detail in their work. Some professions may even require multiple monitors such as programmers. Generally the bigger the size of the screen, the more information you can fit into it and the more detail that is shown on the screen.
The third step in buying an LCD screen for your computer is deciding whether your computer can support it. Generally small LCD screens do not require a lot of graphics power from your PC to give an output but the larger the screen, the more graphics power will be required to render the image. In modern times, bigger LCDs do not have VGA or DVI pins but rather HDMI. HDMI offers the best in picture quality provided that you have an HDMI on your graphics card. Check whether your pc’s graphics card has enough processing power to support the LCD you will buy and the port to support it.
The fourth item that must be considered is the dynamic contrast. Higher dynamic contrasts offer more differences between black and white pixels but in simple terms, it means that you get better picture quality. Usually screens of same sizes may offer the same resolution but it is their dynamic contrast that sets them apart. The higher the contrast, the better the colours on your LCD will appear.
Whether you are a general user, a hard-core gamer or a video editor who needs more space to do his/her work, picking the right screen is essential for better viewing and easier work.
