Buying a New Computer – Do I Really Need to Replace My Old PC?
Whilst most people know that spyware is negative for your computer, not many people know exactly what it does. So in this article I just want to quickly give you an idea about what spyware is and how it can effect your PC.
When your computer gets infected with a spyware program, certain things are either monitored, recorded, and sent to a remote computer system. These programs can be keyloggers, recording your keystrokes to transmit personal information such as your credit card numbers or even your login/password data.
Now that I’ve mentioned the bad stuff, I don’t want to make it seem as if spyware is totally evil. There are some legitimate uses for these types of softwares that keep track of your activity. If you frequenty visited dog websites, a tracking cookie or information can be transmitted to a company to help customize your browsing experience. Then related information about dogs can be served up to you due to your activity.
The problem occurs when you don’t want information to be transmitted or advertisements plaster your screen and make you annoyed. When these ads come up, they may be cause by a relative of spyware called adware. Adware can serve unwanted ads such as pop-ups. Some companies really try to annoy you by creating never ending pop-ups or pop-up windows that you can’t even close.
So when you’re surfing around the net, you’ll want to be careful about programs that automatically install into your system. You might not even know that you have these hideous spyware programs installed. That’s why a real-time spyware protection and removal software is necessary.
