The battle of the browsers has burned long and fast, but which of the leaders to choose? To be fair, each has its fair share of Good Points & Bad Points, which I will quickly run down for you.

Firefox – The Good

• It’s totally customisable. There are a million and one tools, add-ins, skins and plug-ins to make the user experience complete. I for example use a developer toobar when doing Web Design to help display divs
• The developers are super competitive. If another browser steals a march, they will work flat out to catch up

Firefox – The Bad

• It’s security can be lacking. The downside to the the developers constantly beavering away at improving the functionality is that loopholes emerge quiet frequently that viruses can exploit.
• It’s delightfully Crashtastic. As fantastic as the browser is, it is quite intensive on system resources and as such crashes at the slightest sniff of invalid code.

Chrome – The Good

• Chrome is super reliable. It does not use many resources as it is so streamlined. This means that when bad code is run, the program is less likely to bottom out.
• It is simple, clean and fast. By not having all the addons that Firefox can, Chrome is able to stay focused on the task of web browsing.
• What I have dubbed the ‘Awesome Bar’. The address bar in the browser also doubles up as a Search Box for Google and also can predict what site you are looking for before you have finished typing the address, even if you have never been there before!

Chrome – The Bad

• Its Privacy is not amazing. The browser collects and sends data on you and your web habits to Google, even before you have hit enter.
• No Addons! As I mentioned earlier, the cost of fast browsing is no extra functionality or customisation.

So which browser should I use?

Well to be honest its down to preference and what tasks you are performing on the web. If you are looking for some straight up browsing, boot up Chrome. If its song, dance and perhaps a spot of Skype interactivity, then fire up Firefox!
