Just because you may think it’s boring coming to a complete stop, doesn’t mean that you should skip it. In addition to making complete stops, do you always make sure that you use your blinker when changing lanes and turning? If you don’t use your blinker, you could really confuse other drivers on the road and get into a bad crash; especially if you don’t use it when changing lanes on the highway.

Do you talk on your cellular phone while driving?

Another thing that increases your risk of getting into an accident is talking on your cell phone while driving. Fortunately, it is becoming illegal in some places to be on a phone and drive at the same time. You are much better off taking the time to pull over and talk on your phone if you need to talk to someone important. Everybody makes the excuse “I was in a hurry and I didn’t have time to stop” when they use their phones and drive. Try to avoid talking on your phone and definitely avoid text messaging while you drive.

Never be a drunk driver

The absolute worst thing you can do for yourself and other drivers is to drive drunk. Not only is there a huge possibility that you will get into an accident, but there’s also a huge possibility that an accident that you do get into could be fatal. Don’t set yourself up to drive drunk – always call someone that is sober to drive you home if you had a late night out at the bars. If you drive drunk and even get pulled over, you could end up doing jail time and end up with a conviction.
