Windows Registry Articles – Everything You Need to Know
The read response feature in Windows Mail gives you assurance that the recipient has already read a mail. When a recipient opens your message, it will be counted as read. After the recipient open the message, a read response notification mail will be sent to your inbox. To enable read and unread receipts, you should go to Tools > Options > Receipts. If you want to request a read receipt, you should check the Request a read response for all sent messages box.
Under the Returning Read Receipts, you can configure the settings for each request. The sender doesn’t have to send a read response to you in order for you to send a return response. If you don’t want the read response to be sent to you, you can select the Never send a receipt. If you want to be notified each time a read receipt request enter the inbox, you should select the Notify me for each read receipt request. If you want Windows Mail to always send a read receipt, you should check the Always send a read receipt option. You can send a return read receipt to the sender even if the sender did not request a read receipt.
You can protect the message in the email through the secure receipt options. To use a digital signature, you can click on the Secure Receipts button. To secure a receipt, you can check the Request secured receipt for all digitally signed message checkbox. Under Sending Secure Receipt, you can configure the receipts. If you select the Never send a secure response, Windows Mail will never send a secure receipt when a sender send a secure receipt request. If you select the Ask me if I would like to send a secure response, Windows Mail will prompt you to confirm for the sending of the secure receipts before sending a secure receipt to the sender. If you select the Always send a secure receipt, Windows Mail will always send a response back to you.
This functionality is great for several purposes. If you send an important email to a friend, client, or employee, you can make sure they have read the email by using this function. This is a great way to keep “tabs” on which emails have been read, and which emails haven’t been read. Use this function to schedule and un-schedule important dates, make sure your employees are working properly, or make sure that deadline extension is ok with the client!
