The Brother MFC-9800 is a monochrome laser printer with additional features for faxing, copying, and scanning. With relatively smart speeds and resolution, this machine is able to function well as a stand-alone printer. Features and Functionality
The walk-up flatbed features of the MFC-9800 allow you to fax and copy without being connected to a computer. Although it prints in black ink only, the scanner is full-color, and you can convert photographs and other pictures to JPEG and PDF files for storage purposes. When connected to a computer via the Parallel or USB port, the MFC-9800 allows you to send and receive faxes directly from your Windows or Mac desktop.
The print capabilities of the MFC-9800 are offered at a 15 page per minute speed with a 600 x 600 dpi resolution. Because the scanner allows you to resize images and text as needed, you can achieve a maximum resolution of 9600 x 9600 dpi on stored files.
When printing or copying, the MFC-9800 is fed by a 500-sheet paper input tray. Upgrading to include a second tray is optional, and will substantially decrease the need for paper stocking. Printer supplies are easy to replace and install. The Brother MFC-9800 toner comes in two sizes of standard Black: the 3,000-page yield cartridge (TN430) and the 6,000-page yield cartridge (TN460). Both MFC-9800 cartridge options provide the same crisp, clear monochrome results, but the larger option will allow you to get the most out of your investment.
