Why Do People Think That Camping is So Uncomfortable?
Camping is commonly known as ‘roughing it’, which brings to mind having a few days away from the big smoke whilst putting up with a bit of discomfort. The reality is though; those that think camping is uncomfortable really aren’t very good at it! If you are properly set up you can have a lot of fun, whilst still enjoying many of the luxuries that you have when at home. Obviously you have to compromise without electricity, microwaves and heaters (unless you have a four wheel drive and are very well set up!) but there is no reason for you to be uncomfortable.
Quality mattresses and sleeping bags have long overcome the sleeping issues that one might have previously had, and this applies for all sorts of temperatures. Tents are now light weight, strong and fairly cheap too, meaning you should never get wet when camping either. Clothing has developed in a way that you will always be comfortable. Again, having these items makes no difference if you don’t know how to use them. Setting up the most expensive tent is not going to keep you dry if you set it up in a hollow. There are a lot of things that you can learn and in combination with good gear your camping trip will be very luxurious.
If you have a four wheel drive you are able to live life in amazing luxury. You can take hot showers with you, electric blankets, an oven or microwave and much more, but this can be expensive. Camping requires a bit more time to do everything than when you are at home, but then when you are out bush you have all of the time in the world! Cooking is made easy with light weight yet powerful burners, and freeze dried food tastes exceptional too.
