E.coli or Escherichia coli is as it is rarely known is the common inhabitant of the intestinal flora of human beings. Also, is it responsible for causing food poisoning when the balance gets disturbed. Been a very favorite bacteria among researchers on, which many researchers have been conducted since past is in fact a model for scientist. But, what has now made it get the focus is the fact that these bacteria can turn the biomass to biodiesel directly when a little synthetic biology plays its part.

Although, the methods of conversion have been in practice since many years; but these are the more expensive and impracticable alternatives, with E.coli the process will sure be a more rewarding one in terms of economics and feasibility. Entailing no additional chemical processes for the conversion of biomass to biodiesel, this finding is simply a breakthrough in the production of biofuels. This practice can in fact aid immensely in producing biofuels in abundance with the expenditure really low, so maybe this could help in lowering the energy crunch the world is very soon going to face.

The crafty synthetic biology simply making the process get easy the scientist have successfully created an E.coli strain that can synthesize more fatty acid than it actually needs and also that can survive without using even the slightest part of the fatty acid it produces thus boosting the production more. Then the researcher worked on the strain that can surplus produce the enzyme hemicelluloses that can actually ferment the targeted or base compound hemicelluloses into fatty acids directly thus making the process get shortened and much quicker.

The cellulosic biomass actually the requisite targeted raw material can come from anywhere thus there will not be any unexplained pressure on the food prices worldwide. So, with E.coli hitting the screen the biofuel production economics, efficiency and ease is sure going to set new records.
