Zero energy office- a crucial step for a greener tomorrow
With architectures designing buildings that are working on practically natural sources of energy, the prospectus for a greener future are brighter. The municipality of Aarhus in Denmark will soon have a zero energy office which will use the solar energy to fulfill its energy demands. The Schmidt Hammer Lassen architects who in collaboration of other architects have designed this building got this project after winning a competition. This building which will be the first such project in Denmark is truly a sustainable project. This building will be used along with the old building by the municipality.
The zero- energy building uses 420 m2 of solar panels for purposes of heating water and also for absorption cooling. The electricity would be produced through 1100 m2 of solar energy cells. To save on the water needs rainwater harvesting would be used to provide water in lavatories and also for watering. All these features make this project the best addition to Denmark and with such innovative architecture, the way the buildings are designed would surely change for better. The design also incorporates more sustainability with reused glasses being used for facades and by using almost all the materials obtained from the demolished building.
The architects from the same firm are also involved in more such projects for sustainable office buildings. Crystal which is an office building in Copenhagen with its unique crystalline structure will help in decreasing the energy consumption by 25 % less than present energy needs. The photovoltaic panels will help by producing 80000 kWh every year. All such architectural designs which harness the natural energy will sure help fight the energy crisis all are dealing at present. With many such offices and apartments coming up in almost all parts of the world, energy conservation and sustainable designs would be sure the base of all future architecture.
